feratel DMS Deskline makes it easier for tourism associations to realize tax transparency
Over the past weeks, feratel’s “Deskline” destination management system (DMS) has been expanded to include several functionalities to efficiently help tourism organizations meet the tax transparency regulations. feratel’s implementation was achieved through software updates and is available free of charge.
“Our goal is to provide tourism organizations with the best possible support in order to reduce bureaucratic work to a minimum. This means they can fully concentrate on their core competencies in sales, marketing and guest services,” remarks CEO Markus Schröcksnadel, explaining the motivation for the extensive system adjustment.
The background is the EU-wide DAC7 directive, which was implemented into national law in Austria through the Digital Platform Reporting Requirement Act (DPMG) and came into force on January 1, 2023. This means that tourism associations, as operators of digital platforms, are also obligated to report their active providers and their remuneration for certain activities such as bookings for accommodation, experiences, guided tours, tickets, etc., to the national tax authority.
To do this, the tourism associations subject to reporting must identify their bookable providers, collect and check additional information such as tax number, account details, Commercial Register number, etc., and annually report this data, including booking numbers (bookings/sales), to the responsible tax authority. The report for the 2023 calendar year must be completed for the first time by January 31, 2024 at the latest.
“As a leading developer and provider of digital destination management systems, feratel has been working hard over the past few months on a solution for tourism organizations by reviewing the legal requirements and data formats of individual EU countries, and we are now providing our international customers with the technical support to make processing in the system as simple as possible. Our customers are currently being comprehensively informed in workshops and webinars and are therefore optimally prepared for the requirements of the DAC 7 directive, both technically and in terms of content,” says Schröcksnadel.
