feratel Performance Monitor sets new standards in tourism forecasting
Precise forecasts and daily analyses improve planning and management in tourism.
Top destinations such as Sölden, Ischgl, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, Seefeld, Mayrhofen-Hippach, Schladming-Dachstein and Saas Fee had the opportunity to test the Performance Monitor. And this is their summary.
The reliable prediction of overnight stays and occupancy rates, detailed knowledge of the guest structure and arrivals is a decisive success factor and important steering lever for tourism destinations (from hotels and restaurants to mountain railways, transport planning and event organisation, etc.).
Top destinations such as Sölden, Ischgl, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, Seefeld, Mayrhofen-Hippach, Schladming-Dachstein and Saas Fee have already had the opportunity to test the performance monitor. Over the past few months, feratel has worked closely with them to perfect the system and raise the forecast quality to a new level. The official rollout on the market will take place in May of this year.
Josef Schirgi, Managing Director of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis tourism association, is enthusiastic about the performance monitor: ‘Thanks to the digitalisation of the reporting processes, we already have a comprehensive, up-to-date data pool. The live insight into the current guest structure by nationality and age group, in combination with the new forecasting tool, allows us to improve our short-term response to market requirements and better utilise our marketing resources.’
CEO Thomas Köhle from TVB Paznaun - Ischgl: ‘We in Ischgl also rely on the close dialogue with feratel and appreciate the continuous spirit of innovation. The new forecasting tool not only provides us with precise predictions of expected guest numbers, but also up-to-date insights into the nationality structure, the distribution of guests across different categories and their whereabouts in the resort. This data enables even more targeted management of our offers and flexible adaptation to current conditions.’
Andreas Lackner, Managing Director of the Zillertal Mayrhofen-Hippach Tourism Association, which has been working with feratel for years: ‘feratel provides reliable forecast figures for the tourism association, which we share with the district administration. They use the forecast to recognise the peak days before the start of the season and use it to derive their traffic planning measures for busy arrival days. The new feratel forecast of daily arrival figures provides exactly the lead time required for complex and district-wide traffic planning.’
As a data-driven decision-maker, Elias Walser, Managing Director of the Seefeld Tourist Board, also relies on precise analyses and digital tools. ‘I have been comparing the forecast with the actual reporting data on a daily basis over the last few weeks and the initial results are promising: the feratel forecast is characterised by accuracy.’
Oliver Schwarz, Managing Director of Ötztal Tourismus, assesses the data quality no differently: ‘The forecasts and data that we receive with the feratel Performance Monitor from our own data pool enable us to plan more precisely. The accuracy of the forecasts in the tests is very positive.’
Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of TVB Schladming-Dachstein, is not only driving forward the further development of his destination, but as President of the Destination Network Austria is also committed to the competitiveness of all Austrian destinations: ‘We are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the forecasts, as they provide completely new insights. They enable a more precise understanding of short-term guest behaviour, optimise our strategic actions and thus strengthen the long-term competitiveness of the destinations through sound insights and the intelligent use of extensive data pools.’
